Final L.A. bake sale

Hey guys!

Hopefully we'll be seeing quite a lot of you tomorrow. Pets are completely welcome, Natalie even made dog treats to sell. We're going to have a ton more options and people there that are selling.

Shojin has donated some macrobiotic chocolate chip cookies and did a blog post about our bake sale, because they are awesome! Ghalia Organics is donating gluten free brownies and their stuff is to die for (Follow them on twitter!). Bunny Muffin Bakery is donating brownies. C'est La V will happily be donating again. You will also get to meet Celine and Joni! All this while supporting great causes - Earthlings, Animal Acres, and Little Big Dog Rescue.

There will be gluten free, soy free, and nut free options available and obviously everything will be dairy, egg, and honey free.

Thanks once again to Locali who is hosting us and kindly allowing us to drop off some of our baked goods early. They have Sheese, Dandie's marshmallows, Go Max Go! candy bars, Teese, and Dr. Cow's available for sale.

Locali is located at:
5825 Franklin Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90028

We will be there from 11am-5pm!

First Bake Sale Recap!

This is a super late recap, but I get distracted extremely easily. Our first bake sale on the 21st went amazingly well and we sold out of basically everything! Thanks to everyone who helped, brought food, and bought things. So many awesome people!

Here are pictures of the event (All pictures taken by Afsoon):

By the end of the day, we were left with this:

We will have even more awesome vegans helping out next week and many more items for sale. Please drop by and support the animals! You may even get to hear some awesome shouting, thanks to Natalie because backpacks love bake sales!

Shojin and IMPENDING DOOM! (Of awesomeness?)

Six days until our first bake sale! This is very exciting stuff, people. We are now on Craigslist also.

In other great news, my favourite restaurant of all time is donating cookies to our bake sale! Shojin is an amazing little organic vegan Japanese restaurant located in the Little Tokyo Shopping Center in Los Angeles. The people who work there are some of the nicest that you will ever meet and the food is beyond excellent. Their pastry chef, Chie, has a great little blog with photos of food and customers.

Afsoon trekked down to Locali and took some happy pictures so you guys could all see what to look for. We will be having it outside the cleaners next door.

Other blogs that have made posts about this bake sale: Could It Be ... SEITAN?, Have Cake, Will Travel, Just the Food, A Peas of My Mind, and Zombie Cook. Thanks to everyone involved!

Please come stuff your face with yummy vegan food for a good cause!

Change of plans!

Okay, one last change of plans. This is it, I promise! We're going to have the bake sale at Locali instead of Vegan Earth Day because it was a little too much to rent a booth. We're still accepting donations and sponsorships, if you're interested. We also need some help promoting the bake sale and making fliers. I'll make your favourite dessert for the sale if you help!

The two bake sales will be on June 21st and 28th at:

Locali
5825 Franklin Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90028

Our awesome people (so far) list - Vegan Essentials and Locali! Thanks so much for being super duper.

New Twitter Account!

We're still having problems with evil twitter, so Afsoon made a new account. Please follow and shout about it to random strangers on the streets.

We are also still looking for sponsors or anyone who is interested in donating items for us to sell. If you're interested, please email bakemeupla@gmail.com. I promise to be extremely energetic about promoting you.

There may be sparkles involved.

Twitter Issues

Hey guys!

Just wanted to alert everybody to the fact that, for some strange reason, our twitter account has been suspended. We are trying to get this worked out and hopefully it will be up and running again soon. We're not quite sure why this occurred, but the bake sale is still happening. Don't worry!

On a happier note, we have a definite bake sale location. Pierce College in Woodland Hills is holding a Vegan Earth Day festival on the 21st of June. Admission is free and parking is only 10 bucks per vehicle, with dads and firefighters getting free barbecue. Hope to see you there!

If you want to get in contact with us on twitter, my name is fughawzi and Afsoon's is.. Afsoon! Feel free to add us and ask any questions you may have.

Animal Acres, Earthlings, and Tipjoy. Oh my.

Our tipjoy account is officially up and running. If you want to up your awesome quotient, all you need to do is donate here**.

Where will my money go, you ask? It will help us cover the costs for having this bake sale, sure, but mostly it will be going to two lovely organizations: Animal Acres and Earthlings. The following is information from volunteers who work with the organizations and also from the websites.

Earthlings:
Almost all of the contributions/donations goes towards the following:
1 - University Screening Program - Designed to bring the Earthlings message to University Students around the world the Nation Earth University Program encourages screening of Earthlings on university campuses with no charge to the attendees.
2 - Translating the film into new languages - with an emphasis on Asian languages. As of now we have been able to translate the film into 9 languages including Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic and Hindi. Their goal of 8 new languages includes Japanese, Chinese and Korean who represent the major Asian languages.
3 - Free Broadcast of the film on Public Television around the world to reach as many people as possible.

Animal Acres (Information from their website):
Animal Acres is home to over 150 rescued farmed animals, thanks to generous and loving people who provide feed, straw-filled barns, and veterinary care through our monthly sponsorship program.
Animal Acres is often a suffering farmed animals' only hope for rescue and refuge. Your donation will provide emergency aid for animals seized from cruelty by humane officers and Animal Acres investigators. Donations are urgently needed for rehabilitation and housing costs, veterinary treatments and medical supplies, and emergency transport expenses.
Over 90% of the annual funding needed for our rescue, education, and advocacy efforts is provided by Animal Acres members. YOU are the most important part of making the Los Angeles farmed animal sanctuary and compassionate living center possible.
Your support will provide us the guaranteed funding we need - when we need it most - 24/7. There are many times when suffering farmed animals need us to respond IMMEDIATELY - and when they do - we need to have funds in place to quickly respond to rescue them from harm.

** Please fill up your Tipjoy account with money before donating. We don't get anything if you don't. Thanks!

Ah, planning

We are busy planning away and figuring out venues. Oh, and worried about the evil heat that we shall be faced with come June. You've got to love Southern California, hm?

Hopefully we will be able to update this more frequently in the next couple of weeks. Until then, I leave you with cake! We expect to see lots of cakes at the bake sale, people.
